Frequently asked questions

What are the main types of bed sheets?

Bed sheets come in three main types: fitted, flat or in a set. The fitted sheet lies directly on the mattress, has four sewn corners creating a specific length pocket & is sewn with elastic to hold it in place on the bed. The flat or top sheet, generally goes on top of the fitted sheet and is (like the name says!) sewn flat with a hem. The set includes both the fitted and the flat sheet along with 4 pillowcases.

What is thread count?

Generally seen as TC or CT, thread count refers to the amount of threads woven together per square inch. Count both lengthwise (warp) and widthwise (weft) threads. For instance, 100 lengthwise threads woven with 100 widthwise threads produce a thread count of 200 per square inch.

What is the best thread count?

Higher thread counts are not always better, nor does it indicate quality. Higher thread count wovens are most often achieved by using thinner, less-wound threads (packing more threads into that square inch mentioned above). Doing this can cause less stable woven fabric that is more susceptible to wearing out faster. The most recommended thread counts are between 200 and 400. The Cool Luxe™ sheet set is a 300TC that uses a single-ply yarn.

Why choose a blend like the Cool Luxe™ sheet set?

A 65% cotton/35% TENCEL blend combines the best of both worlds! Cotton is a luxurious natural fiber known for its breathability. TENCELl Lyocell can be combined to add moisture-wicking, softness, and durability to other materials. Blends of cotton and Tencel, like the Cool Luxe™ sheets, are ideal as they combine two materials known for their temperature-regulation and durability.

Why BCI Cotton?

The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a global not-for-profit organization and the largest cotton sustainability program in the world. BCI exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future. Through BCI and its Partners, farmers receive training on how to use water efficiently, care for the health of the soil and natural habitats, reduce use of the most harmful chemicals and apply decent work principles. BCI Farmers implementing this system are licensed to sell Better Cotton.

Why TENCEL™?

TENCEL™ branded lyocell fibers are known for their natural comfort and environmentally-responsible closed loop production process. They are produced from sustainably-grown wood, and the solvents used during processing are collected and reused (closed loop) to minimize the environmental impact. They deliver quality, performance and versatility. Unique physical properties lead to their high-tenacity profile, efficient moisture management and gentleness to skin.

What does the OEKO-TEX® certification mean?

According to OEKO-TEX.com, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification is specific to any textile that touches the skin. “If a textile article carries the STANDARD 100 label, you can be certain that every component of this article, i.e. every thread, button and other accessories, has been tested for harmful substances and that the article therefore is harmless for human health. In the test they take into account numerous regulated and non-regulated substances, which may be harmful to human health. In many cases the limit values for the STANDARD 100 go beyond national and international requirements. The criteria catalog is updated at least once a year and expanded with new scientific knowledge or statutory requirements. It is not easy for manufacturers and customers to keep an overview of the legal situation concerning harmful substances every day.”

Do the pillowcases fold over? Standard Opening? Overlap sham/envelope closure?

The Cool Luxe pillowcases have a standard opening with a 4” decorative hem. The open end means that various size pillows can be placed inside, and it will still look neat. For example: the queen size case can accommodate a standard, jumbo, queen pillow or a position specific molded pillow (no more than 20” tall and 34” long). The king case will accommodate nearly all pillow sizes less than 40” long . The hem can drape loosely or be tucked into the pillowcase to create a more tailored look.

Why do I need a pillowcase?

A pillowcase is the ideal covering to keep your pillow fresh and clean so it lasts for as long as possible. Pillowcases are easy to install and to remove for frequent cleaning which helps keep your skin clean and reduce allergen build up. Many molded pillows come with a tailored cover but as there is just the one cover it is more efficient to protect this with a pillowcase that can be washed more often.

Where are they made and how do I wash them?

These pillowcases are a comfortable blend of 65% cotton/35% TENCEL and are made in Pakistan.

Be sure to read washing instructions on the label. For best results, wash separately from other items to reduce wear and minimize wrinkling.. Often if washing every week with a low soil level cold water is fine; however- if especially soiled hot water can be used. In order to reduce wear and wrinkling, sheets should always be washed alone. No bleach. There is no need to turn the pillowcase inside out. Pillowcases should remain finished side out to remove all dirt and particles easily.

What is a final sale?

It's a sale where all purchases are considered final. Meaning once you buy something, you can't return or exchange it.

When shopping for a final sale, it's important to keep a few things in mind:

  • No returns or exchanges: Remember that all purchases during a final sale are considered final, meaning no returns or exchanges are allowed. If an item is received defective, damaged, or as a mis-ship, we will make exceptions for these situations.
  • Check the sizing: Since you won't be able to exchange the item, it's important to make sure you're buying the right size.
  • Sales tax: Depending on where you live, sales tax may still be added to the final sale price.
